Later Stuff

Actually, these were probably done in the late 1990s.

I always have felt that the mark of a great artist is the ability to make the viewer want to jump - nay, dive - right into the painting. He's done it here.

... to see more recent works by Brian Jones, check out his page at www.lochgallery.com and gibsongallery.com ... ever the humble, modest type, the guy didn't even have his own web-site. What you will find in his later paintings are works that are bursting with bright colours and joy.

Highly recommended viewing. Enjoy.

Ah sonny, I confess that I too was taken entirely by surprise when I read of Brian Jones in the Freeps. After the shock and sadness of his death had registered my very first thought was, "Poor Bob. First Paxton and now this." About all I can say in the way of consolation, is, at least the man got his ya-ya's out. As you so abundantly display here in all of these painting stuffed posts, Brian accomplished what was his to do and he did so with wit and radiance and panache. Sure, there could have been more and he surely deserved that and we'll miss him, but look at all that he leaves behind. The Soul of London, indeed.

Hokey Smokes! HERMAN (is that really YOU?!?)

Well, of course it is and thanks for dropping in and welcome to this shared Algonquin Round Table of similar spirits.

May I quote you on those wise words about "wit, radiance and panache"?

Oh shit, I'll just do what I usually do and plagiarize you anyway. But remember - it's considered a 'compliment' if it comes from a friend. Thank you, brother.

... on an unrelated note, I ran into Randy downtown today. Sub-zero temps notwithstanding, it's been far toooooo long.

But Spring is here and we'll be in touch re: The River - whenever Lent or Passover or whatever it is, is over.

Yes, since the beginning of time, London has only had about 65 truly cool characters and most of them lived prior to 1940.

Ted Goodden is one of them. Herman's too square to be cool.

Hey, Butch - thanks for speling Ted's last name rite. Surprisingly, lots of people don't even know they've dropped a couple of g/d's

Say what? I don't get what you're saying, Sonny.

You been eating that Chinese food again from M&M's?
