Video Dance Party 2-Nite LIVE!
In honor of the Toronto appearance of The Pipettes, tonight at 8:00, SonnyDrysdalePresents will be hosting a Pipettes video dance party for those too unfortunate to venture down the 401 to the Rivoli in Hipsterville East to catch the ladies in their first North American appearance.
Please note - from this point on, anything you see in bold print with the first words being SONNY LIVE" followed by the time - all of that was done in 'real time' via the magic of the Internet. .... And away, we go....

As you can see - an homage to the girl groups of the early 1960s. The Shangri-La's, the Supremes, the Ronettes, the Shrillelles, the Dreamgirls - I love this stuff even if I've heard it before by the Bangles, the Go-Go's, Pandora's Box and Blondie on their first album and a half.
Like all those other great girl bands, the Pipettes say they are on a mission "to turn back the clock to a time before the Beatles ruined everything."

Her name is 'GWENNO Pipette. They all have the same last name - just like the Ramones or the Osmonds. How cool is that?
I predict that when the girls make it big next year, Gwenno will be the first to go solo. With a first name like 'Gwenno,' how could she not? And with those looks, she doesn't even need a last name.
Okay, I'll just come out and say it - she's gonna be the next Madonna.

Hey - it's 8:25 and no one's in the Chat!
Sorry, man, but I stopped by and saw Honey Pot Sugar Scoop's underpanties in the tree out front and figured that soemthing really grisly had occurred -- so I vamvoosed it over to The Liquor Store on Wellington Road South and then down to Port.
Next time you do one of these thangs, issue a press release by e-mail.
A little notification goes a long way to maxing out the experience, man.
Oh yeah, the insane slings and arrows tossed my way.
I'm in love with Bernie, that's why I don't criticize him. Right. Bernie's old news. Most folks gave up on him years ago, shortly after he was first elected in 1982 -- 27 years ago.
And Junkdog's doing a great job during the budget deliberations. Geez, he never opened his big yap once. A mighty fine custodian of Ward 4 tax dollars.
Oh well, at least he's smart enough to know to keep his trap shut. Otherwise he'd look a complete bonehead when he did open it:
"Excuse me, can sumbuddy tell me what colour the ETC agendas are?" or
"Can sumbuddy tell what the fuck I'm doing here? I know I ran for office, but I didn't really want to get elected. Can I go home now and stay home and still cash my paycheque?"
But I do feel kinda sorry for him because he hasn't been able to his own house (without a police escort to pick up belongings) since November 17, 2006.
That'll be four months on St. Patrick's Day. Missed Christmas and New Year's with his family and young daughter, plus her kids from another dad.
The last time he was home he was sitting in his garage drinking cold beer on a Friday morning about 2 a.m.
Four months later, he's wondering what the hell happened. Poor guy. And he's forbidden from going to The Beer Store, the Liquor Store or a bar.

I'm selling Alt-London (see ad on alt). I'm heading to Chi-town, the Windy City, to cover the last two months of the Lord Tubby Trial, then I'm off for Mexico for a couple of years.
Too many drooling brain surgeons in Melonville for my liking (see posts above yours).
I ADORE the Pipettes! I mean, ADORE THEM!! And here I was thinking I was the only one in Melonville--but the Sultan of Swing, the Deacon of Disco, the Master of Music--Sonny Drysdale, is miles ahead of me. Yet again.
Kid Dork - that does it. Next time the Pipettes come, we're going. We're effin' goin'. Even if it means a ROAD TRIP. Just like in 'Wild Hogs.'
Till then, we can always just re-watch the video dance party.
Well, I will be heading down to Grooves to pick it up on Friday. Riot Becki is my new Muse.
